Software engineer, dualist editor enthusiast, and open-source contributor.
Background & Origins
I am a software engineer with academic and practical roots at the
Silesian University of Technology (Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics
and Computer Science - AEI).
My engineering interests lie at the intersection of low-level
operating systems, kernel internals, and sovereign computing tools.
My main portfolio and showcase can be found at szymon-wilczek.me, while this website serves as my independent hypermedia space for tools, personal archives, and technical explorations.
The Dualist Philosophy (Neovim + Emacs)
Well, maybe some people would hang me for it, but in the long-standing text editor discourse, I belong firmly to the camp of the Dualists:
- Neovim is my primary code-writing weapon and high-speed editing environment. I rely on it for the majority of my daily programming, build custom Lua plugins, and actively contribute to Neovim upstream to help make the editor even faster and more extensible.
- GNU Emacs serves as my mission control and operational headquarters. Powered by Org-mode, it drives my digital garden, agenda, and literate programming workflows, along with occasional Lisp hacking.
Rather than treating these tools as mutually exclusive (which most people do), I use the raw modal editing speed of Neovim alongside the limitless extensibility of Emacs to create perfect balance in the force.
Upstream Contributions & Free Software
I believe deeply (really deeply) in the ethos of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). As a matter of principle, I contribute back to the projects and tools I use:
- Linux Kernel
- Neovim
- Independent Open Source - I am author of many tools, and editor packages, including fonts, Neovim plugins, Emacs utilities, and more suites.

All of my independent experiments, and configurations are hosted on my
GitHub profile.
I'm still very depenent on GitHub infrastructure, maybe one day I'll
transition to something else.
